Hi I'm Holly Wigmore, a 21 year old from Southampton, England. I've been lucky enough that throughout my life I have seen many countries thanks to family holidays; some of these include Spain, France, Belgium, Austria, Bulgaria, Italy, Tenerife, Turkey and North America. Thanks to these opportunities I have acquired a desire to travel further and for longer and immerse myself in the different cultures of the World.
On June 12th 2016 me and my boyfriend Sam boarded our one-way flight to Sydney to start our year Working Holiday Visa and this is really where my traveling story begins.
Taking The Leap
After college most people around me were getting accepted into University's and knew what they wanted to be doing after but this wasn't the case for me. So I finished college and got an Apprenticeship in Business and Administration which taught me some of the skills I'm using now.
After completing my Apprenticeship I decided I wanted to go to Australia and so quit my job and worked in retail doing lots of hours and night shifts to save up the funds to get accepted on the 417 Working Holiday Visa. After about 8 months we finally had enough money to start our adventure, so with flights booked, visas approved and backpacks fastened it was time to go.
The Journey So Far
Although my travels so far haven't taken me anywhere other than Australia I have seen quite a bit of this vast country and still have time to see some more. Since arriving in June I have spent a few months in Sydney and Brisbane and have also travelled up the East Coast twice. The first time we started in Sydney and headed all the way up to Cairns in the Greyhound Coaches. The second time we started in Brisbane, were joined by my parents and drove ourselves up to Port Douglas in a hired campervan.
Thanks to the time spent here and the places I've been I feel that I have a lot to write about - my personal experiences and advice on travelling, things I wish I knew before leaving and places I recommend seeing when you get here.
